What day is Athletics On?
Clubs nights are Thursday evenings from 530pm during school terms 4 and 1.
How is a record set?
Club Records for U6-Open age groups can only be broken or equaled during the listed Athletics season and are updated in Results HQ. Notifications of these are also regularly posted on our club’s social media. Records can only be broken in the child’s registered age group for the season.
What happens in wet weather or extreme heat?
The committee reserves the right to modify events scheduled for that night to better suit weather conditions. Griffith is an all-weather track so wet weather won’t necessarily cancel the club night. In the event of hot weather, the club will follow the LANSW Hot weather policy in regards to modifying events and/or postponement/cancelling club night. Please keep an eye on our socials for any announcements in regards to club nights.
Where can I find lost property?
Our lost property collection can be found in the storage shed. Please check regularly for any missing hats, jumpers, shoes etc. The collection of lost property operates under an honor system. Griffith LAC will try to return items which are clearly marked to their owners, but the lost property container will periodically be cleaned out and any unmarked or unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Why do parents have to do a roster
As noted above, Little Athletics is a volunteer run organization that requires substantial parent involvement to ensure our children have a safe and rewarding experience. Parents should expect to be required to assist with roster. Your club will arrange your rosters. Please remember under Health and Safety Laws you must wear enclosed shoes for Canteen roster.
Parent Participation at LA Carnivals:
Parent assistance is mandatory for any child who compete at club nights, local carnivals/gala days, State Relays, Zone, Region or State Championships. Parent requirements are based on the number of athletes entered into the carnival or in the case of club nights, pre-set minimums of helpers required. A parent roster is prepared, and every effort is made to allocate a roster duty at a time to coincide with child/ren’s event. By submitting an entry into these events, you agree to provide assistance to help at these events as rostered.
Will my child be taught the correct technique?
LANSW and ANSW conducts coaching clinics and camps at various venues and times throughout the season and the club has a number of experienced coaches. Limited skill development instruction is given on Thursday afternoons; however, you can talk to any of our committee members for further advice. One of our committee members will be happy to assist and provide advice where needed.
I am interested in becoming a coach, what do I need to do?
We are seeking additional coaches to boost our numbers, so we are prepared when our current crop of coaches move on. Coaching courses are run throughout the season and details can be obtained from the LANSW website.
I am interested in becoming an official, what do I need to do?
The new program from World Athletics will replace the current AAOES system. Head to https://elearning.worldathletics.org/
I want to volunteer, who should I contact?
Contact any member of the Griffith committee, we would greatly appreciate your help. If at any stage you would like more information about policies, plans, rules or information on education and training, please contact the committee at Griffith LAC or contact Little Athletics NSW via their website lansw.com.au
